Unlike deck building techniques that rely on excavation and aggregate, deck supports generally do not
shift with ground frost because they hold no moisture. To prevent any shifting, we recommend building
your deck in sandy soil, which holds less moisture and is less affected by any freeze-thaw cycles. Avoid
clay soil, which holds a lot of moisture, which can then move & shift as a result of freeze-thaw cycles.
